Star Student on Track for Success

She’s tall, limber and she’s leaping ahead of the pack. In September, year Nine student Kelsea Williams will get a glimpse into her future with the Australian Institute of Sport.

Selected as one of only twenty athletes from Queensland, the hurdling specialist will participate in the elite National Under 15s Athletics Camp in September 2016, at the AIS, Canberra.

The athletics all-rounder will have access to a slew of AIS technologies, facilities and education. There is no doubt she will take full advantage of the world-class facilities on offer.

Champion hurdler, Kelsea, will experience life at AIS.

Kelsea, a Little Athletics star was handpicked because of her dedication to improvement and passion for athletics. Her mother, Lynda, couldn’t agree more “This is a live in, elite level camp. Kelsea has worked hard and it’s an honour for her to be one of only one of eight female athletes selected from Queensland.”

Each day will consist of coaching sessions to enhance performance in chosen events and improve general fitness.  Workshops will be held in strength and conditioning and stretching and there will also be guest appearances by senior elite athletes.

The humbled student is excited about the prospects: “my long term goal is to compete in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. I’d love to race the 400mtr hurdles.” The aim of the camp is to develop and support young athletes who have reached national standard. Not only will athletes receive expert advice from some of the very best coaches from around Australia, it will be a fun and exciting time, and a chance for athletes to make new friends from all over the country.

Westside Christian College wishes to congratulate Kelsea on an exceptional achievement.
